Welcome to the Materials Science and Simulation online application!

The Ruhr-Universität Bochum meets the needs for material scientists trained in numerical simulation, experimental characterization and processing techniques by the international Master of Science programme “Materials Science and Simulation” (MSS), hosted by the Interdisciplinary Centre for Advanced Materials Simulation.

You can now apply for the winter semester 2025/26.

The first deadline for international students is 15 March 2025, the second 15 June 2025. EU-citizens and applicants already holding a Schengen visa can apply until 15 September 2025. Usually the admission committee meets during the weeks after the deadlines, and the results are communicated shortly thereafter.

Since the waiting time for a visa appointment in countries such as Iran, Nigeria, Pakistan, and Bangladesh might be up to one year, we ask applicants from these countries to take this into account for their planning. Therefore, if possible, apply by June 15 or at the latest by September 15, 2024 for the following winter semester 2025/26. Even if you apply before March 15, 2025, the time to start your studies in October 2025 is likely to be too short!

International students can already apply for the winter semester 2026/27.
