AKAFÖ
Soon after your arrival at the Ruhr-Universität you will become familiar with the activities and services of the Academic Support Group (AKAFÖ) on campus. The AKAFÖ offers a broad range of services in the numerous cafeterias and canteens.
As a student group, the Academic Support Group represents a service provider with a social mandate. The student groups are organised under the Umbrella Organisation of German Student Groups (DSW) and provide a range of services for higher education institutes throughout the Federal Republic of Germany. The Academic Support Group is responsible for students at the institutes of higher education in Bochum.
The services extend across the main areas of catering, accommodation, financing, culture, international students, childcare, support for handicapped students and service.
International Office
The International Relations Office is responsible for all aspects of the University’s international contacts and activities. In addition to advisory and counselling services, it functions as the contact point for all international matters at the University. This includes providing advice and counselling for incoming students studying in Bochum as well as to outgoing students at the university who wish to spend time studying abroad or to find an internship abroad. Last, but not least, it has a central function in developing and maintaining international partnerships with foreign universities and institutes.
